Tasha Smith, a 36-year-old woman, was tragically killed during a gunfight at an apartment complex in Merritt Island last month. Prince Alonzo Johnson, a 26-year-old man, was arrested in connection with her death, which occurred on September 20 at Tropical Manor apartments. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a disturbance shortly after midnight and discovered Smith, who was then transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Although Smith was not directly involved in the altercation, she was in the vicinity when Johnson fired shots, leading to her fatal injuries. Johnson now faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
