Fatal Philadelphia shooting death of Terrell Jones – Obituary
Terrell Jones, 36, has been identified as the man shot inside a candy store in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Police Department reported that he was pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds at 10:24 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, after officers were dispatched to the scene at 10:11 p.m.
Jones was inside the candy store located in the 800 block of North 40th Street when two armed men attempted to rob him. During the robbery, one of the assailants shot Jones, fatally injuring him. In response, Jones managed to return fire, wounding one of the attackers.
The suspects fled the scene in a blue vehicle, which later crashed into a Southeast Pennsylvania Transport Authority bus near 41st and Brown streets. After the crash, the gunmen abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot.
A 17-year-old male suspect, who was injured, was later found in the 700 block of Preston Street with gunshot wounds to his arm and chest. He was transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center and is currently in stable condition.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or to reach out via the Philadelphia Police Department tip line at 215-686-8477. A reward of $20,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
