A tragic incident unfolded in Brownwood, Texas, on Wednesday when 42-year-old Tony Dewayne Roberts was fatally stabbed during a domestic altercation. The police report indicates that 9-1-1 operators received a call from a woman around 8:15 a.m., claiming her father had just stabbed her husband and that she was en route to Hendricks Medical Center-Brownwood for medical assistance.
Officers responded to both the emergency room and the residence on the 2400 block of Ave B. Corporal Jessica Risdon arrived at the hospital and identified both the caller and Roberts. According to the investigation, a dispute erupted at the home involving the caller and her sisters. Roberts attempted to mediate the conflict when his father-in-law, 58-year-old Joe Garner Caine, exited the home and allegedly confronted Roberts, leading to the stabbing.
After being interviewed by detectives, Caine was positively identified as the suspect. Despite receiving emergency medical treatment, Roberts succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the medical center.
A murder warrant for Caine was issued by the 35th District Court, signed by Judge Mike Smith. He was subsequently located at his residence and arrested on the warrant, with his bond set at $250,000.
