Authorities are investigating a tragic car accident that occurred in the Town of Wappinger on October 2, which resulted in the death of 23-year-old Yanique M. Jackson from Poughkeepsie. The incident, involving only one vehicle, happened around 6:20 p.m.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports that speed may have played a role in the crash. Deputies arrived at All Angels Hill Road near Dugan Lane after receiving reports of a serious accident. Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2007 Infiniti sedan, carrying five occupants, was traveling south on All Angels Hill Road when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a utility pole.
Upon their arrival, deputies found Jackson, the rear passenger, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The other occupants were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.
In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, several local emergency services responded to the scene, including the New York State Police and various fire departments.
