Authorities in Dutchess County are investigating a tragic one-car accident that took place on October 2nd in the Town of Wappinger, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old man from Poughkeepsie, Yanique M. Jackson. The crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. when a 2007 Infiniti sedan carrying five people lost control while traveling south on All Angels Hill Road.
Initial reports suggest that speed may have played a significant role in the accident. According to deputies, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a utility pole. Upon their arrival, responders found Yanique Jackson in the rear passenger seat with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital but, unfortunately, was later pronounced dead. The other occupants sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening and were taken to nearby hospitals.
Witnesses reported that a helicopter was summoned to the crash site to assist with the emergency response. In addition to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, several local agencies, including the New York State Police and various fire departments, were involved in the response.
The investigation into this fatal incident is ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events leading up to it to come forward.
