Fatal Christian County car crash death of Joseph E. Hicks – Obituary
Authorities have identified the man killed in a crash near Pana, Illinois, as 60-year-old Joseph E. Hicks. According to Christian County Coroner Amy Calvert Winans, Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident on Friday.
The cause of his death has been attributed to multiple blunt force injuries sustained during the crash, with toxicology results still pending.
The Illinois State Police reported that the incident occurred on October 11 around 9:30 p.m. The vehicle, driven by a 42-year-old Pana woman, was traveling south on Illinois Route 29 when it veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined. After leaving the roadway, the car struck a culvert and came to a stop in a ditch. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Illinois State Police and the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
