Fatal Catalina Island plane crash death of Joeun Park – Obituary
Joeun Park, 37, has been identified as the fifth and final victim of a tragic small plane crash on Santa Catalina Island. The crash occurred shortly after the twin-engine Beechcraft 95-B55 took off from Catalina Airport on October 8, 2024.
Previously, four other victims had been identified: Gonzalo Lubel, 34; Haris Ali, 33, from Fullerton; Margaret Mary Fenner, 55; and Ali Reza Safai, 73, from West Hills. The aircraft was registered to Safai, a former flight instructor.
The Federal Aviation Administration reports that the plane crashed about a mile west of the airport, prompting an emergency response from local authorities. All five individuals on board were pronounced dead at the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with updates expected as the investigation unfolds.
