Makhai Ramon Martin dies in fatal Lutcher shooting
Fatal Lutcher shooting death of Makhai Ramon Martin – Obituary.
Makhai Ramon Martin, a 19-year-old, was fatally shot in a double shooting incident on Highway 44 in Lutcher on October 15, 2024. The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting occurred around 8:40 p.m. when authorities received a call indicating that a man had been shot and was being transported to the hospital. Shortly thereafter, a second victim was also reported in the vicinity.
When deputies arrived, they discovered Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A second 19-year-old male from the Lutcher area sustained injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Investigators located a silver Nissan Altima, believed to be involved, abandoned with bullet damage on the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Reports indicate that four males exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Despite a thorough search, deputies were unable to apprehend any suspects.
