A tragic single-vehicle accident on Interstate 89 in Williamstown, Vermont, resulted in the death of 42-year-old Beverly Emerson on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities reported the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. near mile marker 42, where a Subaru Legacy was found in a ditch off the right side of the roadway.
Beverly Emerson, who was a front passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports indicated that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. The driver, 38-year-old Kristopher Steponik, was also unrestrained and was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center along with a 15-year-old passenger in the backseat. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.
All three individuals involved in the crash were residents of Randolph, Vermont, although police have not disclosed the nature of their relationships.
