Fatal Cathedral City hit-and-run claims the life of Christina Barrington – Obituary
Christina Barrington, a 60-year-old resident of Cathedral City, died last week after her scooter was struck by a vehicle on East Palm Canyon Drive. The driver involved fled the scene, according to Cathedral City Police.
Officers responded to the area near East Palm Canyon Drive and Bankside Drive around 12:46 a.m. on Friday, October 11, after receiving reports of a woman lying in the roadway. Barrington’s scooter was found nearly 1,400 feet away, closer to the intersection with Cathedral Canyon Drive. She was discovered with severe injuries and transported to Desert Regional Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators revealed that Barrington was traveling eastbound on her scooter when another vehicle hit her from behind, throwing her from the scooter. The vehicle dragged the scooter for a significant distance before fleeing the scene. The vehicle involved was later located in Rancho Mirage, and while a suspect has been identified, no arrests have been made yet.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Cathedral City Police Department.
