A South Jersey family is facing a devastating situation following an unmanageable house fire that affected Darlene Rockemore. Her son, Marcus Cauthorne, launched a GoFundMe campaign on October 14, revealing that his mother had to escape the flames by climbing out of a second-floor window. At the time, she was reported to be sedated and intubated due to her injuries.
The fire completely destroyed her Delanco home, taking everything she owned, including her small dog, as Cauthorne detailed in his fundraising appeal. He is seeking financial assistance for medical expenses, clothing, housing, and the essential task of rebuilding her life.
The Delanco Fire Company reported that the fire escalated to a second alarm and that first responders battled the blaze for over ten hours, starting around 4:50 a.m. and concluding their efforts at 3 p.m. As of October 16, the GoFundMe campaign, which originally aimed to raise $1,000, had exceeded expectations by collecting $6,747 and continues to grow as community members express their condolences and support.
