Fatal Iowa County crash death of Jeanne Kashindi – Obituary.
A tragic accident in Iowa County claimed the life of 53-year-old Jeanne Kashindi from Des Moines on Tuesday morning. According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, Kashindi was driving a 2012 Kia Sportage east on County Road F-52 around 6:55 a.m. when she failed to stop at the intersection with H Avenue, located north of Millersburg.
As her vehicle continued, it entered a downhill driveway and struck debris in a county gravel storage area, ultimately overturning. Kashindi was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old passenger, also from Des Moines, was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City for treatment.
This incident adds to a grim toll on Iowa roads, where, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation, 275 fatalities have occurred this year, a decrease of 21 compared to the same time last year. Over the past five years, the annual average of roadway fatalities in Iowa has been approximately 350.
