Layani CarterEpps dies in fatal Clinton County crash

Fatal Clinton County crash death of Layani CarterEpps – Obituary.

Three children tragically lost their lives in a collision in Clinton County, Iowa, on October 7, 2024, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The victims have been identified as 5-year-old Layani CarterEpps, 4-year-old Ja’Cesun Jackson, and 2-year-old Miko King.

 

The incident occurred around 9:18 a.m. near the 3700 block of Highway 30, where a two-vehicle crash resulted in severe rear-end damage to an SUV that was found in a ditch. The children were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

 

Ja’Cesun and Miko were pronounced dead at the scene, while Layani was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Two adults, Sunika G. Carter, 38, and Amaria M. Carter Brown, 22, were also airlifted for treatment, along with another child, while the truck driver, Stephen Point, 70, was hospitalized for injuries.

 

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and authorities are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
