A 38-year-old woman, Mirsa Lopez, has been arrested and charged with arson following a devastating fire that resulted in the death of a man and his three dogs at a mobile home park in Northwest Dallas. According to the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, Lopez allegedly confessed to starting the blaze, which occurred on October 12.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 6:30 a.m. and discovered flames engulfing the back of a mobile home and two nearby vehicles. Lopez reportedly ignited the fire at the residence of Gary Fischer, a man she had been in a relationship with, after being denied entry to use the bathroom.
Witnesses described seeing Lopez seated calmly in a chair outside as the flames raged, and Fischer recounted hearing a loud noise before stepping outside to find his home ablaze. The fire spread rapidly, prompting a second-alarm response from fire units, affecting at least four mobile homes and multiple vehicles. Lopez has been charged with arson with intent to damage habitat, although it remains unclear if she has entered a plea or retained legal representation.
