Fatal Beaumont hit-and-run death of Scott Charles Jr. – Obituary.

Scott Charles Jr., a 54-year-old resident of San Jacinto, was tragically killed on Monday night in Beaumont when he was struck by a vehicle near the E. 1st Street ARCO fuel station. The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m., prompting a swift police response.

Beaumont police believe the crash was intentional, as the driver fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Charles was pronounced dead at the location, which is situated in the 400 block of E. 1st Street.

Approximately thirty minutes later, authorities apprehended a suspect in Cabazon, where the same vehicle was involved in a second collision. The driver, who has not yet been identified, is currently in custody and receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during that crash.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is now reviewing the circumstances of the incident to consider any further charges. Investigators are urging witnesses or anyone with information regarding the case to reach out to Sgt. Brent Conan at 951-572-3910 or submit an anonymous tip through the Beaumont Police Department’s website.
