On Saturday night, a tragic accident in Park City claimed the life of 53-year-old Steven Crockett from Waukegan. The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified Crockett as the pedestrian who was hit while trying to cross the 3200 block of Belvidere Road at approximately 11:36 p.m.
Authorities arrived to find a 2016 Honda that had struck Crockett, who was crossing the road at the time. Sadly, Crockett was pronounced dead at the scene. According to an autopsy conducted on Tuesday, the cause of death was blunt force injuries sustained in the collision. Police noted that Crockett was wearing dark clothing when the accident occurred.
The driver of the Honda stopped in the center median after the collision. Currently, the Park City Police Department, along with the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT), is investigating the incident. No further information has been provided about the driver or the circumstances leading up to the crash.
