Fatal Horseheads crash death of William H. Olin – Obituary
An 84-year-old driver from Beaver Dams tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on Prospect Hill Road in Horseheads over the weekend, as reported by New York State Police. Troopers based in Horseheads responded shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday to a reported burglary at 235 Prospect Hill Road, where they discovered several signs of damage inside an open garage and a vehicle in the driveway that appeared to have been sideswiped.
During their investigation, officers found tire tracks leading across the lawn and into a nearby pond. A white Subaru was subsequently located submerged in the water, with the driver deceased inside. The victim was identified as William H. Olin.
The Chemung County Medical Examiner arrived at the scene and ordered an autopsy to ascertain the cause of Olin’s death. The New York State Police were assisted by the Big Flats Fire Department and the Wellsburg Fire Department as the investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
