Shooting during ASU Homecoming Weekend results in death of De’Morion Tayshawn Daniels
In Albany, Georgia, a tragic shooting during Albany State University’s (ASU) Homecoming Weekend has left one person dead and four others injured. The victim, identified as 19-year-old De’Morion Tayshawn Daniels from Atlanta, succumbed to his injuries at Phoebe Hospital, according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.
As authorities work diligently to understand the events that led to the shooting, Radium Springs remains closed, and traffic is being redirected. Albany Police Chief Michael Persley stated that the motive behind the shooting is still unknown, and no suspects have been identified at this time.
Details surrounding the location of the shooting remain unclear, but it is known to have occurred near the Student Union, where some victims received treatment. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is actively assisting at the scene.
