Fatal Lincoln City shooting death of Francisco Campos – Obituary

Francisco Campos, a 36-year-old man from Woodburn, was shot and killed by police in Lincoln City during an incident on Saturday, October 19. Lincoln City police were called to the Motel 6 on U.S. Highway 101 around 12:22 p.m. to respond to a report of a domestic disturbance.

 

Upon their arrival, officers discovered that Campos had outstanding warrants and that the motel room occupants were linked to a stolen vehicle parked outside. According to the Oregon State Police, when officers attempted to contact Campos, he was uncooperative. During the encounter, Campos reportedly reached for a firearm tucked in his waistband, prompting police to open fire.

 

The names of the officers involved and the number of officers present during the shooting have not been disclosed. After the incident, Campos received first aid on the scene before being transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Oregon State Police is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
