Fatal Independence County crash death of Malcom Hix – Obituary.
Arkansas State Police have reported that 49-year-old Malcom Hix from Batesville was the victim of a tragic crash that occurred early on Tuesday, October 22, on Highway 69, near the OMP Feed Mill east of Magness. The incident unfolded at approximately 4:39 a.m. when a 2021 Peterbilt attempted to turn left onto the highway from a private drive and collided with the trailer of Hix’s 2006 Kenworth.
The impact caused both vehicles to come to a stop, and shortly thereafter, Hix’s truck and the trailer caught fire. Sadly, Malcom Hix was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Peterbilt was unharmed. An initial report inaccurately stated that Hix was the one making the left turn, but this has since been corrected by the Arkansas State Police.
