Samir Mejia-Zelaya dies in fatal Richmond shooting
Richmond police have identified Samir Mejia-Zelaya, a 19-year-old, as the victim of a shooting that occurred early Monday morning on Hull Street Road. Officers found Mejia-Zelaya unresponsive in the 5700 block of Hull Street Road after responding to reports of gunfire around 1:26 a.m.
At the scene, authorities located three adults in a nearby parking lot, including Mejia-Zelaya, who was pronounced dead on arrival. The other two individuals, a male and a female, were also injured and transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Detective B. Neifeld at 804-646-3246 or provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
