Fatal Millard County crash results in the death of Andy Maxwell – Obituary
Andy Maxwell, a firefighter with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, has been identified as the victim of a serious wrong-way collision that occurred on October 17. The incident took place on I-15 near milepost 132 in Millard County.
Maxwell was driving northbound in a Dodge truck with three juvenile passengers when a southbound Toyota Corolla struck his vehicle head-on around 5:15 a.m. While Maxwell and two of the juveniles were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries, a 10-year-old passenger in his truck and the driver of the Corolla, identified as 55-year-old Melissa MacDonald from North Miami, Florida, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the crash, Maxwell was airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries and remains in serious condition. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist him and his family with medical expenses and rehabilitation costs, as the Salt Lake City Fire Department expressed their support for Maxwell in a social media post.
