Fatal Springfield crash death of Anthony Carroll – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed the identities of two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a two-car collision at the intersection of Veteran’s Parkway and West Jefferson Street in Springfield. Anthony Carroll, 40, died at the scene before he could be transported to the hospital, as confirmed by Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon.
Christian Markey, 28, also from Springfield, passed away shortly after arriving at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Both victims suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
The Illinois State Police reported that the accident occurred late Monday night when Carroll was driving a Buick Allure, stopped at a red light while traveling south on Illinois 4 at Jefferson Street. His vehicle was rear-ended by a Hyundai Accent operated by Markey. The impact caused the Buick to ignite after the collision.
The circumstances surrounding both fatalities are currently under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police as they work to gather further details regarding this tragic event.
