Elijah Stephens dies in fatal Colorado Springs motorcycle crash
Fatal Colorado Springs crash on Hwy 24 claims the life of Elijah Stephens – Obituary
Elijah Stephens, a 26-year-old motorcyclist, was identified by Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) following a deadly accident on Saturday, Oct. 5, at U.S. 24 Frontage Road and West Cimarron Street, near America the Beautiful Park.
The accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. when CSPD officers arrived at the scene of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle. Stephens was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The CSPD Major Crash Team’s investigation revealed that the car was traveling westbound and attempted a left turn onto Highway 24 Frontage Road. As it turned, Stephens’ motorcycle, heading eastbound on Cimarron Street at a high speed, collided with the vehicle’s right front side, throwing him from the bike.
Authorities stated that speed and alcohol are being considered as possible factors in the crash. The coroner confirmed Stephens’ identity on Monday, Oct. 7.
