Virginia State Police reported that John Edward Nelson Young, a 75-year-old man from Staunton, lost his life following a single-car crash Thursday night in Rockbridge County.
The accident happened on Virginia Route 60 near the intersection with Wesley Chapel Road. According to the police report, Young’s 2008 Buick Lucerne veered off the road, struck a guardrail, and continued down an embankment, where it overturned several times.
Young was transported to Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital in Lexington, but despite being secured by a seatbelt, he was pronounced dead. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash.
