A tragic accident in Northlake resulted in the death of 63-year-old Kawaljweet Kaur on Wednesday afternoon. Kaur was a passenger in a Fiat 500 that was involved in a collision on Interstate 35 West, which subsequently led to the highway’s closure.
The incident occurred around 4:42 p.m. when both a 2019 Fiat, driven by a 60-year-old woman, and a 2010 Toyota, driven by a 35-year-old man, were traveling in the left lane of the northbound I-35W. As traffic slowed, the driver of the Fiat reduced speed accordingly. However, the Toyota driver did not react in time and collided with the rear of the Fiat, causing significant damage.
Kaur was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. The conditions of the other individuals involved in the crash have not been disclosed. The Northlake Police Department is actively investigating the incident, though no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
