A tragic accident occurred in Lancaster County, South Carolina, where 77-year-old Leslie Thomas lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the incident took place on Pageland Highway, approximately six miles east of Lancaster, around 9 p.m. on October 22.
According to investigators, Thomas was driving a 2002 Buick eastbound on Pageland Highway when she collided with a Mack tractor-trailer near the intersection with Herschel Plyler Road. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to strike a Chevy pickup truck that was traveling alongside it. The driver of the Chevy veered off the road and hit a mailbox, but fortunately, all four occupants in that vehicle were unharmed.
Leslie Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the tractor-trailer escaped without injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
