Fatal St Mary’s crash death of Lual Awan – Obituary
A tragic car accident in St Mary’s, Sydney, has led to the death of Lual Awan, a father of seven and respected community leader. Awan was on his way to work early Tuesday morning when a disqualified driver allegedly collided with his Toyota on the Great Western Highway, resulting in his immediate death.
The incident began around 4 a.m. when police observed a dark grey Holden Insignia speeding away from them on Putland Street. Authorities reported that the 43-year-old driver of the Holden accelerated toward the highway before crashing into Awan’s vehicle.
Following the crash, the driver fled the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly afterward on Chapel Street in St Mary’s. He was taken to Nepean Hospital under police custody and later released to St Mary’s Police Station.
The driver has been charged with multiple offenses, including dangerous driving causing death, negligent driving, and reckless driving. He was denied bail and is set to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today.
