A tragic incident on October 24 resulted in the death of Whitney Leigh Woodard, a 39-year-old woman, who was struck by a car on River Road in Eugene. The accident occurred around 11:40 a.m. when a Toyota Rav4, traveling southbound, lost control while attempting to turn onto Van Fossen Court.
According to the Eugene Police Department, the vehicle hit a trash can and then veered into a yard. During this chaotic sequence, Woodard was struck by the car. She was transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
Following the accident, part of River Road was closed for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation. The Eugene Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Team is currently looking into the details of the crash.
