Fatal Pomfret motorcycle crash death of William Prater Carpenter – Obituary.
A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Bumpy Oak Road in Pomfret, Maryland, on October 23, resulting in the death of 77-year-old William Prater Carpenter from Bowie. Authorities were alerted to the incident around 1:36 p.m. when officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a collision in the vicinity of Marshall Corner Road.
Upon their arrival, they found that Carpenter’s three-wheeled Harley Davidson motorcycle had veered off the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. Unfortunately, Carpenter was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the crash.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the accident, and the specific cause of the motorcycle leaving the roadway has yet to be determined.
