Five-year-old Artagist Stanford III has tragically passed away two days after being shot in a drive-by shooting while he slept in his bed. The incident occurred early Thursday morning in Winton Hills on Holland Drive at approximately 5:48 a.m.
Stanford was quickly taken to Children’s Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until succumbing to his injuries on Saturday. The shooting took place near Winton Hills Academy, which Stanford attended as a student.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and Cincinnati police have not released details regarding suspects, a motive, or the vehicle used in the incident. Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge emphasized that the 48 hours following the shooting were crucial for gathering information.
Local resident Anniah Hardaway, who lives near the site of the shooting, expressed her alarm over the rising violence in the neighborhood, stating that she feels increasingly unsafe. “I’m scared I’mma get shot,” Hardaway shared, reflecting on the pervasive fear among young people in Winton Hills.
