The shooting that occurred near St. Martinville High School on Friday night has resulted in the tragic death of 24-year-old Deion’Dre Benjamin, according to family sources. The incident took place just prior to the school’s homecoming football game.
St. Martinville police announced that 22-year-old Zackyric Gardner, also from St. Martinville, has been apprehended in Texas and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting. According to Police Chief Ricky Martin, Gardner was a passenger in the vehicle during his arrest, which also included two other individuals.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities anticipate further arrests as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
