Fatal Upper Colo death of Edwin Dobbin – Obituary.
The body of 82-year-old Edwin Dobbin, a Sydney grandfather, has been discovered by police during a search of a property in Upper Colo. Dobbin was last seen by his family on September 25 at his farm in Leppington, where he bred horses.
On Friday, police executed a crime scene warrant at the property, and during their search, they found a body believed to be that of Dobbin. Although the body has not yet been formally identified, authorities have indicated that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death and prepare a report for the coroner.
Phillip Robert Bruce, 67, a friend of Dobbin, has been charged with murder, as well as additional charges related to hindering the investigation and unlawfully disposing of a corpse. Police have stated that Bruce is known to Dobbin and became a person of interest due to inconsistencies in his accounts of the events surrounding Dobbin’s disappearance.
Dobbin has been remembered by neighbors as a well-respected member of the community, and his family is said to be devastated by the news. Bruce is scheduled to appear in court again in December as the investigation continues.
