On Wednesday evening, investigators in Marion County reported the tragic discovery of a 14-year-old boy found dead, the victim of an apparent shooting. Authorities were dispatched to the 15000 block of SW 48th Avenue in the Marion Oaks subdivision following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located Marshaun Jones, who had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Although Marion County officials did not release additional details, they suspect foul play and are treating the case as a homicide.
Marshaun, an eighth grader at Horizon Academy Middle School, had recently moved back to the area from Jacksonville, having registered for classes just the day before the incident.
