The family of 17-year-old Kalvin Darapheth has confirmed his death following a police-involved shooting in Findlay, Ohio. The incident began when officers responded to Bernard Park on reports of juveniles consuming alcohol. Upon their arrival, Darapheth fled, and during the ensuing foot chase, police allege that he fired a shot at the pursuing officer, who returned fire, striking him.
Darapheth was initially taken to a hospital in Findlay before being transferred to a facility in the Toledo area, where he was reported in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is now examining the case, and Findlay Police Chief James Mathias expressed condolences to all those affected by the incident.
