An 18-year-old woman, Lashae Ellis, was fatally shot during a Halloween party in Akron, Ohio, on Saturday night. The tragic incident took place on Paris Avenue around 10:45 p.m., where police responded to reports of gunfire and found Ellis critically injured. She was transported to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly afterward.
Two other teens, aged 16 and 17, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the shooting. After attempting to flee the scene, they received medical treatment and are expected to recover. During the investigation, police detained an 18-year-old male who fled and discarded a handgun while being pursued. He was taken into custody, facing charges for carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business, although his involvement in the shooting remains under investigation.
In a separate incident in Springfield Township, police responded to a shooting just after midnight on Sunday along Canton Road. Two men were injured: one, Brian Cofer, 39, of Akron, suffered a gunshot wound and later died at the hospital, while the other man sustained injuries from an assault. Authorities continue to investigate both cases and are asking anyone with information to reach out to local police.
