Fatal Diamond Bar shooting death of Nicholas Moody – Obituary
Nicholas Moody, a 26-year-old from Apple Valley, was tragically shot in Diamond Bar early Monday morning. Law enforcement responded to reports of the shooting near Pathfinder Road and the Orange (57) Freeway around 6 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Moody inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound.
While details surrounding the incident remain unclear, officials believe an argument may have escalated between Moody and the suspect, leading to the shooting. Following the attack, Moody attempted to drive away but lost control of his vehicle due to his injuries and crashed into a concrete wall over the freeway, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger who was in the vehicle during the incident was unharmed. Investigators from the California Highway Patrol’s Baldwin Park Area Special Enforcement Team and Southern Division Major Crimes Unit are continuing their investigation, including searching a residence in La Verne. Reports indicate the suspect fled the scene in a white SUV.
