Fatal St. Paul shooting death of Earl Bennett – Obituary

Authorities have identified Earl Bennett as the suspect involved in a police shooting that left him with life-threatening injuries. This incident occurred near the intersection of Snelling and University Avenues when Bennett allegedly pointed a gun at the officers on duty.

 

Bennett is linked to two separate shootings in Minneapolis that resulted in three fatalities. On Saturday, he reportedly shot three men at a homeless encampment, with one victim later dying at the hospital. Just over a day later, another shooting at a different encampment led to the deaths of two more men, while a woman sustained serious injuries.

 

After the confrontation with the St. Paul police on Monday night, Bennett was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. In the wake of these events, he has been charged with attempted murder related to a separate shooting and possession of a weapon. The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave as investigations continue.
