Fatal Portsmouth I-95 crash death of Arlen Brown – Obituary
A man tragically lost his life on Wednesday night after his vehicle crossed the median on Interstate 95 and collided head-on with another car. Arlen Brown, 68, from Sabattus, Maine, was driving a Ford Escape when the accident occurred, seriously injuring the other driver, Jessica Emerson, 25, from Berwick, Maine.
The New Hampshire State Police reported that the incident took place just before 7 p.m. near mile marker 13. Brown was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Emerson was also taken to the same hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to preliminary investigations, Brown’s vehicle was traveling southbound when it went airborne after crossing the median, resulting in the collision with Emerson’s northbound Toyota Camry. Following the crash, all northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for about two hours while authorities managed the scene and cleared debris.
This incident marks the second fatal crash this month on I-95 related to vehicles crossing the median. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation is currently considering the installation of median barriers on this stretch of highway to enhance safety.
