Jakaiden Rynearson dies in fatal Peoria shooting

Fatal Peoria shooting death of Jakaiden Rynearson – Obituary

Jakaiden Rynearson, a 20-year-old woman from Peoria, has been identified as the victim who succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday after being hospitalized for nearly two months following a shooting incident on August 11. Rynearson was shot while attempting to assist her neighbor, Zaneta Winters, during a domestic dispute involving Winters’ boyfriend, Stevie Linwood. According to court documents, the altercation occurred at their home on the 3400 block of North El Vista Avenue, where Linwood allegedly shot both women.

On the day of the incident, Rynearson was reportedly shot multiple times as she tried to help Winters, who was found with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Witnesses indicated that Rynearson was lying in front of the house when she was shot, with Linwood allegedly standing over her. While Winters was pronounced brain dead shortly after the shooting, Rynearson fought valiantly for her life in the hospital until her death at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home at 1:21 a.m. Tuesday.

Linwood is currently in custody at the Peoria County Jail, facing two counts of first-degree murder, along with charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. As of Wednesday, no new charges had been filed against him.

A GoFundMe campaign launched by Rynearson’s mother, Autumn Palmer, to cover travel and funeral expenses noted that Rynearson’s health had significantly worsened prior to her transition to hospice care just days before her passing. The fundraiser describes Rynearson as a “hero in every sense of the word,” highlighting her loving nature and willingness to help others. As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign had raised $2,620 towards its $8,000 goal.
