The tragic loss of 19-year-old Dyjahn T. Porter has been confirmed following a motorcycle accident in Joliet. He was pronounced dead on October 24, 2024, at 6:04 p.m. at Ascension St. Joseph’s Medical Center after the crash involving his motorcycle and a passenger vehicle near the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Reedwood Drive.
According to reports from the Joliet Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:43 p.m. when Porter was riding a Suzuki GSXR 1000 eastbound on West Jefferson Street. He collided with a Nissan Rogue driven by a 19-year-old female from Romeoville who was making a turn onto West Jefferson Street from Reedwood Drive. The impact caused Porter to be ejected from his motorcycle. Authorities believe that speed may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
Following the collision, emergency responders transported Porter to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Nissan was unharmed.
The road was closed for several hours while investigators reconstructed the scene. The Will County Coroner’s Office will determine the final cause and manner of death following an autopsy and toxicological reports.
