Authorities have confirmed the identities of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in an aircraft crash in Jessamine County, Kentucky. The victims were 72-year-old Micheal D. Murphy and his wife, 72-year-old Connie J. Murphy, both from Lexington.
The crash occurred on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. in a field near Ashgrove, involving a single-powered parachute aircraft known as a Buckeye Dream Machine. According to the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office, a witness noticed the aircraft had crashed and promptly called 911.
First responders arrived at the scene just minutes later and quickly confirmed that both passengers had died. Sheriff Kevin Grimes stated that Micheal Murphy was an experienced pilot, having flown for approximately 20 years.
The preliminary report from the FAA indicates that the aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances during its landing, resulting in it overturning. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
