Fatal Waipahu hit-and-run death of Teresita Gaoiran – Obituary

Teresita Gaoiran, a 76-year-old woman, has been identified as the victim who tragically lost her life following a hit-and-run incident in Waipahu. The accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Farrington Highway and Pahu Street.

 

According to Honolulu police, a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Sione Semisi Manupule was heading eastbound on Farrington Highway and made a right turn onto Pahu Street when it struck Gaoiran, who was crossing the road. Initially, the driver stopped but then fled the scene without providing assistance.

 

Manupule was later apprehended and faces charges related to the incident, including causing death or serious bodily injury and driving without a license. Authorities have stated that it does not appear that speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the crash.

 

This incident marks Oahu’s 38th traffic fatality of the year, a decrease from the 45 fatalities reported at the same time last year. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
