Fatal Orlando Halloween shooting deaths of Tyrek Hill and Timothy Schmidt Jr. – Obituary
Tyrek Hill, 25, and Timothy Schmidt Jr., 19, were tragically killed in a Halloween night shooting in downtown Orlando. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 1, when 17-year-old Jaylen Dwayne Edgar allegedly opened fire on a crowd in the area of East Central Boulevard and North Orange Avenue, resulting in the deaths of Hill and Schmidt and injuring nine others.
Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith announced Friday that Edgar faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and six counts of attempted first-degree murder. Six of the injured victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
The ages of those injured in the shooting range from 19 to 39, with injuries varying from gunshot wounds to being trampled. Police reported that approximately 100 officers were on duty in the area at the time of the shooting. Further details on the victims’ conditions are pending.
