Fatal Wolcott car crash death of Jorge Duran Duran – Obituary
WOLCOTT, CT — Jorge Duran Duran, 43, tragically passed away following a car accident in Wolcott early in the morning on January 21. According to authorities, the collision occurred on Wolcott Road and led to significant injuries for Duran Duran.
The accident involved 26-year-old Luis Sanchez-Sagbay, who was reportedly driving a 2011 Honda Civic without a license or insurance. Police reported that the vehicle veered off the road around 2:10 a.m., hitting a pole and severely injuring Duran Duran, who was a passenger. In a disturbing turn, Sanchez-Sagbay allegedly moved Duran Duran from the Honda Civic to another vehicle that had arrived at the scene before emergency responders came.
Despite immediate medical care at the scene, Duran Duran was pronounced dead later at a nearby hospital. Initial interviews with Sanchez-Sagbay revealed inconsistent accounts, as he initially claimed he was not the driver. However, further investigation confirmed he was behind the wheel, supported by statements from a surviving passenger and medical personnel.
Sanchez-Sagbay now faces multiple charges, including misconduct with a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and interfering with an officer. His court appearance is scheduled for November 13.
