Fatal Pinkham’s Grant car crash death of Peter Canty – Obituary
PINKHAM’S GRANT, NH — A two-car accident on Route 16 Saturday night resulted in the death of 77-year-old Peter Canty of Jackson, New Hampshire, while another driver sustained minor injuries, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Police responded to the scene near 467 Route 16 shortly before 6 p.m., finding a collision between a Chevrolet Cruze and a Chevrolet Suburban. Initial investigation by the state police collision analysis and reconstruction unit revealed that the Cruze, driven by Mark Taillon, was traveling northbound when it veered across the double yellow lines and collided with Canty’s southbound Suburban.
Canty was pronounced dead at the scene. Taillon, a resident of Gorham, was treated for minor injuries.
Route 16 remained closed in both directions for around four hours as authorities cleared debris and continued their investigation. The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, and police urge anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact Trooper First Class Daniel Quartulli at the New Hampshire State Police.
