A 17-year-old, identified as Rayvon Shahid, was shot and killed by Michigan State Police troopers during an incident over the weekend. The confrontation occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, near the intersection of Essex Street and Pasadena Avenue when troopers approached an armed individual who fled upon being confronted.
Following the encounter, Shahid was fatally shot, and a loaded pistol was recovered at the scene. As of now, further details about the incident have not been disclosed by Michigan State Police. The department has also not confirmed how many troopers have been placed on leave as a result of the shooting.
