Fatal Urbandale shooting death of Ruth Sue Ann Robison – Obituary
A tragic incident unfolded on Friday when 45-year-old Ruth Sue Ann Robison was shot while helping her daughter move out. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting occurred around 5:21 p.m. at a residence located in the 200 block of Northwest 51st Place in Des Moines. According to authorities, Robison and her husband were both found with gunshot wounds and subsequently transported to nearby hospitals.
Robison succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, while her 52-year-old husband remains in critical condition as of Monday morning.
Law enforcement has charged 24-year-old Hamza Smajlovic from West Des Moines with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon shortly after the incident. Smajlovic was taken into custody at the scene. The criminal complaint alleges that he shot Robison in the head with a 9mm pistol and also targeted her husband in a similar manner. The complaint further states that Smajlovic recklessly fired a round into an occupied residence while attempting to carry out the murder and attempted murder of two other individuals present at the time of the shooting.
