Fatal Columbus shooting death of Treh D. East – Obituary.
Columbus police have confirmed the identity of the victim from a deadly shooting that occurred over the weekend. Treh D. East, a 29-year-old man, was discovered with gunshot wounds early Sunday morning in the east side area of Columbus.
The incident was reported in the vicinity of the 3300 block of East 5th Avenue shortly after 5:45 a.m. East was declared deceased at the hospital at 6:21 a.m.
In connection with the shooting, 30-year-old Awil Salah Mohamed has been taken into custody. He voluntarily turned himself in to authorities on Sunday without any issues.
Investigators revealed that a dispute between East and Mohamed precipitated the shooting. Mohamed is slated to make his next court appearance on November 13 and is currently detained at Franklin County Jail facing a murder charge.
