The Yakima County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of two men who were killed in a shootout outside a Safeway grocery store in Yakima, Washington, on Friday evening. Emmanuel Santos, 18, and Aaron Lamas, 20, died as a result of gunshot wounds following an altercation in the store’s parking lot. The cause of the shooting remains under investigation, though authorities suspect the two men may have been involved in a transaction with the suspects.
The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. when police arrived to find the two victims with gunshot wounds. Santos was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lamas was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Witnesses helped authorities track down the suspects’ vehicle, which was spotted shortly after the shooting. The vehicle attempted to flee before stopping, and both suspects were found with gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital. Two men, aged 19 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with the deaths. The shooting is not believed to be related to another fatal incident that took place earlier that morning in Yakima.
